This book was great and just what I needed. The book features one western rider and one english rider with different backgrounds, weaknesses and concerns. Plenty of detail and specifics that will not fail you. I have now become a HUGE Clinton Anderson fan, starting with this book. Now I watch his T.V. show on-line. I watch the same episode over 3 or 4 times before working on a new exercise. This book was really handy to have as a reference as I worked through the beginning exercises. Everything builds on the beginning exercises, so this is the book to start with. I think Anderson's strength is in his ability to communicate with PEOPLE as well as horses. He explains things in a very simple and direct way that you can not miss. On that point, he far exceed his competitors. I have learned more from 3 Clinton Anderson shows than several years from professional trainers.

My horse is an Arab and I was dealing with major riding and behavioral issues. I have had four trainers, not one of whom helped me anywhere near as much as Clinton Anderson did in a few hours. People can not believe the difference in my horse. If you are beginning with horses, or dealing with a problem horse, this book and the related DVDs or television shows, are the right place to start. If you have only taken "riding" lessons, then you will learn a lot by reading a training book. All the problems in riding start with training and that's where you have to go to fix them. This is THE book.
